Taylor Swift Reclaims Her Music Through "Red"

Taylor Swift is in the process of reclaiming her music that was stolen by Scooter Braun in 2019 by rerecording her original albums going all the way back to the 2000's. She released "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" earlier this year in 2021 which was a smash hit amongst fans. Now, she has released "Red (Taylor's Version)" on November 12th at 12am. Fans have been looking forward to this for weeks and everyone is talking about the excitement over the extended version of what many fans consider her best song "All Too Well".

Rolling Stone's Rob Sheffield described the rerecording of the "Red " album as "a tribute to how far she's traveled, but it makes you even more excited for where she's heading next. This is the golden age of something good and right and real. And for Swift, the golden age is really just beginning." Writing specifically about the 10-minute version of "All Too Well," Sheffield said Swift "takes her own masterpiece, tears it all up, breaks it like a promise, shreds her tapestry, and rebuilds it into a new heartbreak epic, twice as long and twice as mad."

Following the release of "Red (Taylor's Version)" at 12am, she told her followers on Instagram: "It never would have been possible to go back & remake my previous work, uncovering lost art & forgotten gems along the way if you hadn't emboldened me. Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Now we begin again."

PEOPLE Magazine tells us that Swift has teamed up with Starbucks and, "Beginning Friday, customers can order the musician's favorite coffee drink, a Grande Caramel Nonfat Latte, in-store or in the drive-thru by simply asking for a "Taylor's Latte" or "Taylor's Version." Fans can also use the Starbucks app by tapping the details in the Taylor card and then clicking "order now." While inside the stores, Swifties might notice Red (Taylor's Version), as well as additional Swift hits, playing over the store's speakers. That's because Starbucks will be playing her music exclusively in correlation with the event."

Not only did Swift rerecord this iconic album and partner up with Starbucks for more exposure, she also released a vinyl collection of the album with 4 discs to fit all 30 songs, the handwritten lyrics to the 10-minute version of "All Too Well', and is producing a short film that comes out on Friday at 7pm that goes along to the song. The short film will star Sadie Sink, Dylan O'Brien, and Taylor Swift herself.

This rerecording is a masterpiece for fans and has everyone buzzing including me. Many folks are having "listening parties" where they all wear red and eat great snacks and listen to the rerecorded album for the first time together. In my opinion, this is an amazing way for Swift to reclaim her music and her identity. Her matured vocals give the album a completely different feel and her collaborations with people like Phoebe Bridgers and Ed Sheeran make this album extra special. Make sure to check out the album and give me your opinion!
